Hi everyone!! Here is a little info about my new song "Tattoo". Well, it was a really sick song to write. It came together so quickly! I was working with songwriter and producer richard orofino, and he just started playing these chords on his guitar, and the chorus melody just snapped into place. I recorded a little voice memo, and the words “my heart’s tattooed” just tumbled out, and I had a eureka moment.
The inspiration for the lyrics came from a friend of mine who was going through a tough breakup, just overall feeling devastated how their ex was still relying on them emotionally but wouldn’t commit, and was seeing other girls. It’s a hard situation when you’re so close to someone for so long, especially with a first love, and they take advantage of that and use you. I wanted to express that yearning and those feelings of codependency when you love someone so much, but they don’t feel the same anymore. I remember playing this song for her after me and richard worked on a little demo, and she just burst into tears.
I absolutely adore the production of this song. I wanted this kinda crunchy guitar and these dreamy and soft layered vocals to make a wide and full sound. I wanted to incorporate changing dynamics with an intense build. We had such a great time with the synth parts and tracking my vocals, especially with the super low harmony on the chorus. We finished the entire song in one and a half sessions : )
